A specialized team of the Crime Prevention and Special Cell of Special Response Battalion 14, Mymensingh, raided the home of Dulal Chandra Banik in Paschim Moilakanda village of Gouripur’s Moilakanda Union on the afternoon of 1 November 2026, acting on a tip-off.[1] Officers arrested Banik, 55, and Md Hatim Mia, 42, of the same village.[1]
Guided by information from the suspects and in front of witnesses, the team recovered 103.5 kilograms of cannabis stored in six plastic sacks, along with two mobile phones used for drug trafficking.[1] Preliminary questioning found the pair had stored the cannabis to sell it.[1]
The suspects and the seized cannabis and phones were handed to Gouripur Police Station, where a case was registered under the Narcotics Control Act.[1] Station chief Habibur Rahman confirmed the handover and said the two were produced before the court.[1]
