A couple were arrested with 50.85 kg of skunk in Primavera do Leste, Mato Grosso, on Friday 30 October 2026.[1] The drug was hidden in cardboard boxes in the boot of the car police searched.[1] Skunk is a cannabis variety with a high THC concentration.[2]

The Civil Police said it received information from the Federal Highway Police (PRF) about a white car carrying drugs through the region.[1] Its officers stopped the car on the MT-130, a state highway they suspected the pair would use to avoid routine checks.[1] The local outlet CliqueF5, quoting a PRF officer, described the seizure as the result of a routine PRF inspection in Primavera do Leste that morning.[2]

The passenger, named as Jean, admitted carrying the drug and said he was to be paid R$30,000 for the job.[1] The driver, Claudiane, said the couple left Uberlândia (MG) on 26 October to fetch the drug in Rondônia and began the return trip on Thursday 29, and that each would receive R$10,000.[1] Jean instead said the trip began in Ji-Paraná (RO) and was bound for Rio Verde (GO).[1] Both said they did not know who would receive the drug.[1]

Both were arrested in the act and charged with drug trafficking and association for trafficking.[1] The Civil Police said it was still investigating who was behind the load and how it was transported.[3]
