Military Police officers arrested a man on the night of 29 October 2026 after searching two homes in Governador Valadares, in Minas Gerais, and finding 23 bars of cannabis.[1] The man told officers that a woman had paid him R$ 2,000 to store the drugs for her.[1] He would not say who she was, telling the officers he feared reprisals.[1] He was taken to the municipal hospital for a medical check and then to the Civil Police station with the drugs.[1]

Six of the bars were in his apartment, where he let the officers in and said he kept a box on a bedroom shelf.[1] The other 17 were in the bathroom of the upper floor of a house the officers visited next.[1] That house was in the Jardim Pérola neighbourhood; the resident said the woman under investigation was a relative and the only person who used the upper floor.[1]

The searches began after officers learned of the woman’s arrest in another case and gathered information about possible drug storage sites.[1] Police were also investigating whether she ran a delivery-style dealing operation.[1]
