Oristano police identified 129 people, including 88 minors, during an extraordinary high-impact control operation carried out in recent days.[1] Officers additionally stopped 41 adults for checks and inspected 11 vehicles.[1] Officers carried out one home search and two personal searches, with one personal search of a minor uncovering hashish.[1] Police pursued two administrative drug violations, one involving a minor, with accompanying drug seizures.[1]
Supported by the Questura dog unit and the Sardinia Crime Prevention Department, officers found and seized 3 grams of hashish in the outside area of the Don Deodato Meloni high school.[1] Police put the total drugs recovered during the checks at 3.9 grams.[1] The operation was coordinated by the Mobile Squad of the Oristano Questura and covered gathering places, squares and central areas, with attention to places frequented by young people and schools.[1]
The checks formed part of a national plan to prevent youth crime, intended to prevent illegality and protect minors, especially in school settings.[1] The Questura said people reported in such cases may face driving-licence consequences, with possible temporary withdrawal or suspension for an adult and a ban on obtaining a licence until age 21 for a minor.[1] Police said monitoring would continue in the coming weeks with constant oversight of the area.[1]
