In Namangan region, law-enforcement officers discovered a packet containing drugs with the driver of a Nexia car, with laboratory examination later confirming the substance as hashish.[1] The operation was carried out by officers of the Namangan regional Interior Affairs Directorate together with officers of the State Security Service.[1] The measure was presented as part of work against illegal trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances and to identify people involved in their distribution.[1]

During the inspection of the driver, officers found a plastic bag holding a dark-coloured substance with a sharp smell.[1] Officers sent what had been seized for forensic examination.[1] According to the conclusion of the forensic centre, the substance was found to contain hashish, and its total weight was 70 grams.[1]

The investigative unit opened a criminal case under the article establishing liability for illegal drug trafficking.[1] The investigation was still under way.[1] Police added that tackling illegal drug trafficking requires not only the work of specialist services but also participation by citizens, and they asked residents not to remain indifferent to suspicious situations and to report possible violations.[1]
