The Third Section of Córdoba’s Audiencia Provincial, the provincial court, sentenced two people to three years in prison each for a public-health offence involving substances causing serious harm to health.[1] The sentence resulted from a conformity agreement between the prosecution and the defence reached before trial.[1] Guardia Civil units from the Córdoba command, the Montilla company and the Baena post uncovered retail drug activity run by the two from two homes in Montilla.[1]

Between May and November 2021 officers maintained surveillance around the homes and repeatedly intercepted buyers leaving with sachets of narcotics.[1] Searches recovered up to seven types of drugs and medicines, including heroin-cocaine mixtures, cannabis/marijuana with an indoor grow included, methadone, lormetazepam, mirtazapina and alprazolam, with a combined weight of about 300 grams.[1] Officers also seized precision scales, plastic cuttings for making sachets, handwritten account notes and 195 euros in cash allegedly from sales.[1]

The court applied a drug-addiction mitigating circumstance only to the man after it was shown he was in detox treatment at the Provincial Social Welfare Institute of the Córdoba provincial council.[1] With that mitigation he may seek suspension of his imprisonment as long as he continues treatment.[1] The court also imposed a 304.27-euro fine equivalent to the official valuation of the seized drugs.[1]
