Agents of the Concepción regional office of SENAD, Paraguay’s anti-drug secretariat, dismantled a drug-selling point in Loreto and detained a 44-year-old woman known as “La reina del chespi”.[1][2] She was named as Berenice Sotera Alfonso Rivarola, who ran the microtrafficking point from her house in Loreto, about 20 kilometres from the city of Concepción.[3][4] Investigators said she sold crack, cocaine and marijuana, the three main substances in the local consumption market.[1][2]

With prosecutor Arnaldo Argüello, special agents approached the house quietly and found drugs already prepared for distribution.[1][4] The approach surprised her at home before she could react.[3] They seized 113 grams of crack, described as about 700 doses, 21 doses of cocaine, and 27 grams of marijuana ready for distribution.[3] The sparse population around the house let her keep a wide view of the ground and spot suspicious movement early.[1][4] SENAD said she had consolidated herself in local microtrafficking because of the location of her home and the variety of substances she offered.[1]

The operation is part of SENAD’s continuing actions against drug dealing in the interior of the country.[1] Authorities have given no further details of her procedural situation, and the case is now with the Public Ministry for the investigation to continue.[1][4]
