Two people were arrested after a counterfeit-money investigation led officers to a residence where narcotics, additional counterfeit money, ammunition and a rifle were seized, according to the Laredo Police Department.[1] The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Eduardo Cisneros, police said.[1] A woman identified as 36-year-old Veronica Gutierrez was also at the residence.[1]
Officers responded Oct. 28 to separate incidents involving counterfeit money at an auto center in the 2800 block of Jaime Zapata Memorial Highway and a gas station in the 13600 block of FM 1472.[1] He allegedly used counterfeit money to purchase items at both locations.[1] With assistance from the LPD Real Time Crime Center and the Flock Safety System, officers located the suspect vehicle parked outside a residence in the 3200 block of Boulanger Street.[1] When officers detained Cisneros, they noticed clear plastic wrapping containing a white rocky substance on the front porch where he had initially been encountered, according to police.[1] LPD Texas Anti-Gang investigators took over the case, and further investigation resulted in the seizure of small amounts of various narcotics, additional counterfeit money, ammunition and a rifle.[1] A consensual search of Gutierrez’s purse led to the discovery of several clear plastic baggies containing a black tar-like substance and several pills, police said.[1]
Jail records show Gutierrez was booked into Webb County Jail and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance.[1] She was released two days later after being placed on three personal recognizance bonds totaling $15,000.[1] Cisneros was booked into Webb County Jail Oct. 29 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, 4 to 200 grams; possession of marijuana, more than 4 ounces but less than 5 pounds; possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram; display of a fictitious license plate and two counts of theft of property between $100 and $750.[1] He remained in custody as of Friday afternoon on bonds totaling $45,000 and an ATF hold.[1]
