Sadar Kanina police detained a man with narcotic substances in Sehlang village during a drive against drug trafficking and illegal sale.[1] The detained man was identified as Rajbir, a resident of Sehlang village.[1] PSI Sahil of Sadar Kanina police station was present with his police team in the Bus Adda Kheri area for patrolling and crime prevention.[1] The team received information that Sehlang resident Rajbir was illegally selling narcotics in front of his Raj Mishthan Bhandar shop at the Sehlang bus stand.[1] Police went to Sehlang village and detained the suspect.[1] The search was carried out in the presence of a duty magistrate.[1]
The search recovered a small white packet containing suspected chitta from the jacket pocket worn by the accused.[1] Checking a plastic crate kept in front of the shop found ganja in another packet.[1] Police weighed the two recovered substances separately on an electronic scale.[1] The weighing showed 2.55 grams of suspected chitta including polythene and 282 grams of ganja.[1] The accused could produce no valid licence or permit for the substances, and police separately sealed and took possession of the recovered substances.[1]
A case was registered against the accused at Sadar Kanina police station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.[1] Further investigation and legal action in the case were continuing.[1] This report counts only the separately weighed 282 grams of ganja as cannabis and excludes the 2.55 grams of suspected chitta as the non-cannabis component of this mixed seizure.[1]
