Shoolagiri police arrested 32-year-old driver Gangathurai of Krishnapalayam
village and his 25-year-old wife Pavithra for allegedly storing ganja, the local
term for cannabis, for sale.[1] Shoolagiri police took both the husband and
wife into custody and sent them to judicial custody after the seizure.[1]
Police acted after receiving a secret tip that Gangathurai was dealing in ganja,
and a team led by Shoolagiri station inspector Syed Sultan Basha moved to search
his house.[1] On Sunday, officers searched the cattle shed attached to the
house in Krishnapalayam near Shoolagiri in Krishnagiri district.[2] Inside the
shed, officers found 12 kg of ganja that had been hidden there for sale and
seized the entire stock.[1]
The operation centred only on the couple’s house and shed, where the hidden
ganja was recovered before the two arrests were made.[2] The seized 12 kg was
valued at Rs 6 lakh.[2]
