Spain’s National Police ended its operation against an indoor marijuana grow in Gurb with three men detained, two of whom have entered prison.[1][2] Police explained that two of the three detained men worked as gardeners responsible for daily care, maintenance and control of the plantation.[1][2] Investigators later located and detained in Tordera a third man described as the alleged person responsible for the plantation and its surveillance and control.[1][2]

On 28 October officers dismantled the indoor marijuana plantation inside a house in Gurb, in Osona, seizing more than 3,500 plants.[1] Police valued the seized drug at 406,311 euros on the illicit market, according to police sources cited in the report.[1][2] Police added that profits could have reached about 1,500,000 euros if the drug had been distributed in small quantities.[1][2]

The Gurb dismantling was reported as one of two distinct police operations that took down two active indoor plantations in Catalonia.[1] The Gurb site was an active indoor plantation housed in a residential dwelling in Osona.[1]

The investigation began in early June after officers detected a strong smell of marijuana around a large building in the town, and the raid was carried out on Wednesday 28 October.[2] The power company estimated the electricity fraud at about 99,000 euros after removing the illegal connection.[2] Those responsible used false documentation to rent the property.[2] Two of the detainees entered provisional prison while the third was released with precautionary measures.[2]
