Madrid municipal police dismantled an alleged drug sales point that operated behind the appearance of a cannabis association, known locally as a ‘soci’, in the Chamberí district.[1] One person was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of an offence against public health, while two other people are under investigation for possible links to the case.[1] Officers entered and searched the premises after gathering evidence and obtaining the required judicial authorisation.[1]
During the search they found different quantities of drugs and tools allegedly used to prepare, store and distribute them.[1] Police seized 2.7 kilos of marijuana and hashish, 174 cigarettes already prepared for consumption and 505 euros in cash.[1] They also seized more than 1,300 items linked to drug use, possession and transport, along with two precision scales.[1]
Police said the investigation showed the venue went beyond the purposes of a cannabis association and had allegedly become a drug distribution point using its associative appearance as cover.[1] Police consider the alleged Chamberí sales point deactivated, saying investigators believe the seized drugs were intended for distribution and consumption.[1]
