Officers of the Squadra Mobile of the Rieti Questura, Rieti’s provincial police headquarters, tracked down and arrested a 57-year-old man of Swiss origin in the municipality of Greccio after he had evaded house arrest since February.[1][2] According to police, he tried to flee during the stop and resisted violently, injuring an officer.[1][2] Following the procedures, he was transferred to the Nuovo Complesso prison in Rieti at the disposal of the judicial authority.[1][2]

A personal search found a packet containing 5 grams of marijuana.[1][2] A search of his home found almost 40 grams of hashish and about 30 grams of marijuana buds, all of which police seized.[1][2] In total, about 75 grams of drugs were seized.[1]

He had been arrested in October of the previous year by State Police on suspicion of cultivating, selling and possessing marijuana for dealing, and had first been ordered to report to the judicial police before a court imposed house arrest.[1] After he absconded and became untraceable, the authorities issued a fugitive decree in February, and the search ended with his arrest in Greccio.[1]
