Officers from the criminal department of the Gdynia city police detained a
40-year-old man and his 20-year-old son, who had stored significant quantities
of drugs in a basement.[1][2] The two men were taken to the District Prosecutor’s
Office in Gdynia.[1][2] Both men were formally notified of charges of possessing
a significant quantity of drugs.[1][2] At the prosecutor’s request, the court
ordered temporary arrest, a form of pretrial detention, for both detainees.[1][2]
Officers seized more than 305 grams of marijuana, which police said corresponded
to 305 single portions.[1][2] In the same basement seizure, officers also seized
686 grams of amphetamine, from which 1,226 portions could have been prepared,
bringing the combined seizure to nearly one kilogram of drugs.[1]
The alleged offence is classified under Article 62 section 2 of the law on
counteracting drug addiction.[1] It is punishable by one to 10 years of
imprisonment.[1] Police said a court will decide what happens to the men next.[1]
