Nadi police in Fatuha detained one youth after seizing 1.426 kilograms of ganja from a toto rickshaw near Tedhi bridge on a secret tip.[1] The detained man was identified as 34-year-old Ranjit Kumar.[1] Police said he was from the Malsalami police-station area and gave his permanent address as Triloki Bigha, Hilsa police station, Nalanda district.[1] Police started the process of registering a first information report against him and took the seized ganja and the vehicle into legal custody.[1]
Officers found 1.426 kilograms of ganja concealed in the toto during the search.[1] Police seized the toto rickshaw used to carry the ganja and gave its registration number as BR01PT6981.[1] In a press note issued by Fatuha police sub-divisional officer-1 Awadhesh Kumar, police said the tip was that a ganja-like intoxicant was being carried loaded on a toto rickshaw from the Diyara area.[1] After verifying the tip, the team ran a vehicle-check drive near Tedhi bridge and stopped and searched the suspicious toto.[1]
Officers said the action was part of a district-wide special drive against the narcotics trade on the senior superintendent of police’s directions.[1] Police believed the consignment was being moved from the Diyara area to another place and said investigation into its network and other smugglers continues.[1] Police are checking the accused’s criminal history and possible drug-trafficking network.[1] Police are also trying to establish whether the vehicle belongs to the accused or someone else and who else is involved.[1]
