Patrolling police in Dharmaram mandal detained a minor boy from Esalathakkalapalli after spotting him behaving suspiciously near Mallannagutta on the outskirts of Dharmaram village.[1] Officers took the boy into custody at the spot near Mallannagutta and questioned him about his presence there.[1] During questioning, the boy said he had become habituated to smoking ganja, the local name for cannabis.[1] He told officers he had come to the Mallannagutta area to sell ganja because he believed selling it would bring him more money.[1]

Officers searching the boy seized 54 grams of ganja from his possession during the same encounter.[1] Police described the patrol that found the boy as part of ganja-eradication patrolling being carried out across Dharmaram mandal.[1] Following the seizure, police registered a criminal case in connection with the ganja recovery.[1] Dharmaram Sub-Inspector M. Srikanth is identified as the officer who reported the detention, the 54-gram seizure and the registration of the case.[1]
