Around midnight on Sunday 2 August 2026, gendarmes on the RN 137 at Derval in
Loire-Atlantique spotted an uninsured Opel Astra with an expired roadworthiness test.[1]
When they tried to stop it, the 43-year-old driver sped off and was blocked five minutes later
as he entered an expressway slip road the wrong way.[1]
In a rucksack in the boot they found more than 8 kg of cannabis, along with 470 g of
ketamine, 103 g of cocaine and four sachets of ecstasy.[2][1] He had picked up the load in
Nantes that evening for a run to Dol-de-Bretagne in Brittany and expected 1,000 euros, after an
earlier delivery in late July.[2] He was driving without a valid licence.[2]
The Nantes criminal court sentenced him on Tuesday 13 October 2026 to three years and two
months in prison, including four months from a probation order revoked by the Saint-Malo court on
6 March 2026.[2][1] Ouest-France reports the same term as 38 months.[1]
