The event took place in Delianova.[1] Carabinieri of the Delianova station, under the Palmi company and supported by provincial, helicopter-borne hunter, dog and SIO reinforcements, launched an operation at dawn across several homes in the area.[1] The operation was aimed at tracing illegally held weapons.[1] Officers arrested a local young man found with about 2.6 kg of marijuana that was still drying.[1]

A precision scale and material for packaging drugs found in the search contributed to the arrest.[1] Officers also found and seized a carbine and a hunting rifle, both with erased serial numbers, along with various ammunition.[1] A 60-year-old local was reported at liberty in connection with possession of material for making ammunition.[1]

After the operation the young man was taken to the Palmi prison at the disposal of the judicial authority.[1] The Carabinieri said the activity was part of broader territorial control focused on clandestine weapons and on drug possession and distribution.[1] The proceedings were in the preliminary-investigation phase, with the presumption of innocence applying until a final judgment.[1]
