Two people tested positive for drugs when An Hải ward police in Da Nang drug-tested 49 people on the morning of 30 October 2026.[1] One of them, B.C.C., born in 2004 and living in An Hải ward, tested positive for cannabis.[1] The other, P.N.H., born in 1987 and living in an apartment in the ward, tested positive for Etomidate.[1] More than 100 officers, soldiers and members of grassroots forces that help keep local security and order took part in the sweep.[1]

The sweep followed the ward police’s Plan 763/KH-CAP to clean up an area they treat as a drug hotspot.[1] Teams checked people’s residence at lodging businesses, motels and rented flats, and those suspected of drug involvement.[1] Etomidate is an anaesthetic used in medicine that police say is being mixed into e-cigarette oil sold as “pod chill”.[1] Police say using it can cause confusion, loss of behavioural control and respiratory failure.[1]

Ward police said they would keep screening the area and handling drug offences, aiming for a “drug-free ward” by 2028.[1] They urged lodging owners and residents to report drug dealing, storage and use.[1]
