Tuyên Quang provincial police said on 5 June 2025 that, with Hà Nội city detectives and the Ministry of Public Security drug-crime department, they had broken a large online cannabis trafficking network and charged ten people.[1][2]
Raids in Tuyên Quang, Hà Nội and Ho Chi Minh City netted more than 200 kg of dried cannabis in total, according to the announcement.[1][2] In Hà Nội seven suspects were held and police seized 191 kg of dried cannabis, nearly 160 g of cannabis oil and 591 e-cigarettes filled with cannabis oil.[1][2] In Ho Chi Minh City two people were detained with 20 kg of dried cannabis, and in Tuyên Quang another suspect was caught with 186 g.[1][2]
Investigators said the group sold through social media, hid drugs in ordinary parcels, used delivery firms and took cryptocurrency to hide payments.[1][2] The case began in September 2024 when Tuyên Quang drug police spotted suspicious online cannabis sales.[1][2] Vietnamese law treats cannabis like other hard drugs; the file remained open for further investigation.[1]
