Police in Chattogram Range arrested 131 people on drug charges during a 24-hour special operation.[1] Eighty-four of them were held in drug-related cases, including one drug carrier and 83 drug users.[1] Forty-seven others were held as suspected drug dealers in regular and other cases.[1] Mobile courts sentenced 23 people to imprisonment in the anti-drug drives.[1] Authorities filed 35 drug-related cases and collected Tk 10,600 in fines during the drives.[1]

Officers seized 30 kilograms and 435 grams of cannabis in the same operation.[1] The same seizure also included 17,044 yaba pills, 188 litres of locally brewed liquor, six bottles of foreign liquor and 697 bottles of Skaf cough syrup alongside the cannabis.[1]

The drug operation was part of a wider 24-hour special operation across the Chattogram Range targeting juvenile gangs, mugging, extortion, terrorist activities and drug-related offences.[1] The operation ran between Monday 2 November and Tuesday 3 November, according to police.[1] Police said the special operation would continue in the public interest.[1]
