Omar Alejandro “N” was bound over for trial in Cajeme, Sonora, for a health offence in the form of narcomenudeo, small-scale drug dealing, for possessing methamphetamine and marijuana intended for sale.[1] The state prosecutor’s office, the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de Sonora (FGJES), said he had been detained with marijuana and methamphetamine destined for sale.[1]

At about 15:35 on 25 October 2026, officers of the Agencia Ministerial de Investigación Criminal (AMIC), working with personnel from the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, detained him at the corner of Santa Margarita and Bugambilias, between Viviano Martínez and Trigo, in the colonia Maximiliano R. López.[1] Within his immediate reach the agents found two wraps of marijuana and 18 wraps of “crystal”, a street name for methamphetamine.[2]

At a hearing on 27 October 2026 a judge ruled the arrest and detention lawful, accepted the charges as formulated, linked him to the case and ordered justified pretrial detention.[1] The judge set two months for the close of the complementary investigation.[2] The FGJES said it would keep investigating and prosecuting health offences with security institutions at all three levels of government, within the law and with respect for human rights.[1]
