A control judge in Tabasco qualified the arrest as legal and bound over to process (auto de vinculación a proceso) Jael N., a man the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) says was detained a week earlier with 600 kilograms of marijuana, and imposed mandatory pre-trial detention, the FGR said.[1]

Federal Ministerial Police officers stopped his stake-bed pickup on the Coatzacoalcos–Villahermosa road at the phytosanitary checkpoint of La Venta, in Huimanguillo — about 120 kilometres from Villahermosa — on 18 July 2026, and found 601 packages of green herb with the appearance of marijuana hidden inside structures made to look like air-conditioning units; the driver, Jael Rigoberto N., was detained in the act and handed over with the vehicle and phone to the federal prosecutor.[1][2] The FGR put the load at about 600 kg and said it had come from the west of the country and was bound for the hamlet of Sueños de Oro in Tenosique, near the Guatemalan border.[1][2]

The charge is the offence against health in its transport modality under the federal criminal code, which the FGR related to article 194.[1][2]
