Internal-affairs officers in Gijduvan district detained three people who distributed hashish.[1] A court found all three guilty under part 5 of the Uzbek Criminal Code article covering illegal manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage and other acts with narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogues for the purpose of sale, as well as illegal sale.[1] Citing the defendants’ difficult life circumstances, the court imposed punishment below the range set by the Criminal Code.[1] The three received prison terms ranging from 5 years and 3 months to 5 years and 6 months.[1]

The dealers took drug payments onto their bank cards and then arranged the method for handing over the drugs.[1] In the episode described in the case, after another transfer of 1 million soums arrived, one dealer said he would drop a bundle of hashish under the buyer’s car parked near a restaurant, and officers detained him at that moment.[1] The account says the three were detained in operational measures as people acting together to distribute hashish.[1] The case information was attributed to the press service of the Bukhara regional Internal Affairs Directorate.[1]
