Bilecik Provincial Police Directorate’s Narcotic Crimes Combat Branch, known in Turkish as Bilecik İl Emniyet Müdürlüğü Narkotik Suçlarla Mücadele Şube Müdürlüğünce, carried out a drug enforcement operation in Bilecik.[1][2][3] During that provincial operation officers searched one vehicle and one person linked to the case in the course of the enforcement action.[1][2][3] Officers detained one suspect in the course of the same operation in connection with the suspected drug offence involving possession for personal use.[1][2][3]

Those searches recovered cannabis, described in the Turkish report as esrar maddesi, in an amount described only as muhtelif miktarda, meaning an unspecified quantity.[1][2][3] Esrar is the everyday Turkish term for cannabis, and esrar maddesi in this context denotes the cannabis substance seized by the police in Bilecik.[1]

Police attributed the detention to suspicion of buying, accepting or possessing drugs for personal use, given in Turkish as kullanmak için uyuşturucu madde satın almak, kabul etmek veya bulundurmak.[1]
