Gendarmerie teams in Aksaray detained eight suspects identified as B.I., 40, M.E., 33, Z.C., 25, D.E.S., 21, S.K., 27, K.Y., 20, Y.C., 18, and I.O., 20, in operations targeting drug manufacture and trade.[1][2] After processing at the gendarmerie, all eight suspects were referred to the judicial authorities.[3][4] A court ordered M.E., Z.C., D.E.S. and K.Y. held in pre-trial detention, known in Turkey as tutuklama, and sent them to prison.[1][2][4][5] The same court released B.I., S.K., Y.C. and I.O. under judicial control.[1][2][4]

Searches of the suspects’ homes and the vehicles they used found 453 grams of kubar esrar, a cannabis preparation also called hashish, the cannabis component recorded here.[1][2][4][5] The same searches also found 2,314 synthetic pharmaceutical pills, which are not cannabis and are not counted in the cannabis figure.[3][2][4][5] Officers confiscated all the seized drugs.[1]

The Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office coordinated the operation, which was carried out by the provincial gendarmerie’s narcotics branch and the central district gendarmerie.[1][4] Investigators said they had identified the suspects as manufacturing and trading drugs before raiding the specified addresses.[1] The provincial gendarmerie said its fight against drug dealers threatening public peace, especially those targeting young people, would continue decisively.[1]

Searches were carried out at four different addresses.[2][5] Investigators followed the suspects with technical and physical surveillance until they judged the evidence sufficient to move in.[2] The investigation focused on eight people in Aksaray’s central district.[2]
