A 34-year-old Barcin resident is to answer before a court for driving under the
influence of intoxicants and possessing them.[1][2] Police stopped his Ford
passenger car on a street in Barcin on Monday, 2 November, a few minutes after
11 a.m.[1] Officers said the driver was restless and had bloodshot, watery
eyes.[1][2] A saliva test indicated psychoactive substances in his body, and
officers seized his driving licence.[1][2] The 34-year-old was detained and
charged with driving under the influence and possession.[1][2]
Barcin detectives then checked his home and his summer allotment with a service
dog from Bydgoszcz city police trained to detect drugs.[1][2] In the allotment’s
altana, a garden gazebo, officers found a bag of dried plant material.[1][2]
Preliminary tests identified the material as marijuana.[1][2] Police secured
nearly 17 grams of the substance.[1][2]
The summer plot where the drugs were found belonged to the driver.[1] Officers
had become suspicious about his condition during the roadside check.[1] He
faces up to three years in prison, with a court to decide his fate.[1]
