Military Police officers went to bairro Campo in Barbacena in the early hours of
Wednesday 4 November after a denunciation about a suspicious man inside a Ford
Fiesta Sedan that smelled strongly of marijuana.[1]Officers found the man
handling a backpack on the back seat, ordered him to place his hands on his
head, then intercepted and handcuffed him after he grabbed an object at his
waist and tried to flee.[1]A personal search seized two mobile telephones
carried by the suspect at the time of the stop.[2]
A vehicle search of the backpack found one bar and nine portions of marijuana
described as skunk, plus a digital precision scale.[1]The same backpack also
contained two bars and three portions of cocaine, recorded here only as context
for the mixed seizure and not counted as cannabis.[2]Officers also collected
R$598 in cash, a cheque for R$5,000 and another mobile telephone from the
vehicle search.[1]
The 29-year-old man was arrested for drug trafficking and taken with all the
seized material to the Civil Police station.[1]Police removed the Ford Fiesta
Sedan to an accredited impound lot after the arrest.[2]
No weight was published for the one bar and nine portions of skunk, so no kilograms can be recorded.
The seized R$598 and R$5,000 cheque are cash and a payment instrument, not a published drug valuation, and the cocaine counts are excluded from cannabis figures.
No custody decision, charge sheet or court outcome beyond arrest for drug trafficking and transfer to the Civil Police station was reported.
Both accounts repeat the Military Police version of the stop; no separate agency statement was opened.
