Three detainees held at the Argentan detention centre in the Orne department were tried before the Argentan court on 6 October 2026 on charges of corruption and drug trafficking.[1] The three detainees of the Argentan detention centre were convicted on 3 November 2026.[1] Their case concerned corrupting a private contractor so the detainees could obtain drugs inside the prison.[1] On 3 November the court sentenced them to prison terms of twelve and eighteen months.[1]

The convictions followed a trafficking scheme that had developed inside the walls of the Argentan detention centre from January 2025 to mid-March 2026.[1] A private maintenance team leader employed by the company Sodexo Justice acted as the person who brought contraband into the facility.[1] The contraband he introduced included cannabis, alongside electronic chips, clothing, salmon, alcohol and games consoles.[1]

The agent, aged 37, introduced between 17 and 35 kg of stupefiants, the French term for narcotics used here for the mixed drug total rather than a cannabis-only amount, and the operation earned him 18,000 euros.[1] He also faced intimidation linked to the trafficking that reached his home.[1]
