Two men aged 19 and 21 were arrested and placed in custody after gendarmes carried out an arrest-and-search operation in Castres on 27 October 2026.[1] The searches took place in a flat and a cellar on rue Jean-Saulière in the Petit Train-Laden neighbourhood of Castres.[1][2] The younger man was referred to the Castres prosecutor on 31 October and held in provisional detention pending an immediate-appearance hearing on 2 November on drug detention, transport, acquisition, offer, transfer and use charges plus possession of category B and C weapons.[1]

In the flat and cellar officers found 3.1 kg of cannabis resin which police valued at nearly 11,000 euros.[1] They also seized 3,530 euros in cash, several nitrous oxide canisters, a 22 Long Rifle revolver classed as a category B handgun, and a category C shoulder weapon with its ammunition.[3]

The operation was carried out by the Castres gendarmerie company as part of an inquiry by the Castres research brigade into drug trafficking and firearms offences in the Petit Train-Laden district.[1] Castres prosecutor Élodie Buguel said the discovery confirmed the commitment of the investigative services under the prosecutor’s authority to fighting drug trafficking.[3]

On 2 November 2026 the 19-year-old was brought before the Castres judicial court in an immediate-appearance hearing for drug detention, transport, acquisition, offer, transfer and use and possession of category B and C weapons.[2] The court sentenced him to two years of firm imprisonment and kept him in detention.[2]
