On Friday evening around 9 p.m., gendarmes from the Lezoux-Courpière brigade stopped a motorist travelling alone in his vehicle at Courpière.[1] The 37-year-old driver tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.[1] Held in custody, he admitted the facts and said he had left Lyon to supply drugs to the Puy-de-Dôme and Allier departments.[1] He was already known to justice for similar cases.[1] On the morning of Sunday 1 November he was brought before the Clermont-Ferrand prosecutor’s office and sentenced to one year of convertible imprisonment.[1] The court also banned him from appearing in Puy-de-Dôme for five years.[1]

Officers searched the car after noticing a strong smell of cannabis coming from it.[1] The search found 102 grams of cannabis herb, 795 grams of resin and 156 grams of cocaine.[1] In total more than one kilo of drugs was seized, of which about 897 grams was cannabis.[1]

The seizure began as a routine road check at Courpière in Puy-de-Dôme on Friday 30 October.[1] The driver said he had come from Lyon to deliver drugs in Auvergne.[1]
