On 3 November 2026 the tribunal judiciaire d’Argentan, the trial court in
Argentan in Orne, convicted two people for attempting to deliver telephones and
drugs by air into the Argentan detention centre.[1] Police had arrested the
pair in the act in May.[1] On 13 May 2026 officers on patrol near the
detention centre spotted a drone at about 3 a.m.[1] Officers caught its
hanging string and arrested the two operators at the scene.[1]
Officers seized several packages wrapped in socks at the time of the arrest.[1] The packages held cigarettes, mobile phones and batteries.[1] The same
packages also held 17 grams of crack and nearly 200 grams of cannabis.[1]
The attempt targeted the centre de détention d’Argentan, the prison at Argentan
in Orne.[1] The two defendants had attempted the drone delivery to the
Argentan detention centre at 3 a.m. on 13 May 2026.[1] The cannabis weighed
nearly 200 grams, the cannabis component recorded here, while the crack amount
is not counted as cannabis.[1]
Three detainees at the Argentan detention centre were convicted on 3 November 2026 for corrupting a Sodexo maintenance worker to smuggle cannabis and other contraband into the prison. Tried on 6 October for corruption and drug trafficking after a January 2025 to March 2026 trafficking scheme, they received prison terms of twelve and eighteen months.
