Agents of Paraguay’s anti-drug secretariat, SENAD, from the Salto del Guairá regional department, eradicated four hectares of illicit cannabis in the Indigenous colony Takua Ju, in the district of Yby Pytã, Canindeyú department.[1][2][3] The agency said the cleared fields were equivalent to about 12 tonnes of marijuana.[1][2][3]

They also destroyed another 1,600 kilograms of marijuana that was drying, and dismantled a makeshift camp used to store tools and gear for the crop.[1][2][3] Together the destroyed material comes to 13,600 kilograms.[1] SENAD estimated that selling that quantity on the Brazilian market would have brought more than USD 2 million to the criminal groups involved.[1][2][3]

Prosecutor Juan Benegas accompanied the operation.[1][2][3] Última Hora, citing SENAD, says no one was found at the site and no arrests were made.[2]
