On Wednesday 8 October 2026, agents from Paraguay’s National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD) dismantled a cannabis production complex in Colonia Cumbre, in the Cerro Corá district of Amambay department.[1][2] The regional office in Pedro Juan Caballero led the raid after intelligence pointed to processing sites in the forest.[2]
The team found separate areas for cultivation, drying and storage.[1][2] SENAD said it destroyed three narco camps in the middle of the production zone.[1][2] Officers counted 2,100 kilograms of marijuana drying on wires and another 650 kilograms spread on tarpaulins.[1][2] They also eradicated about three hectares of cannabis still in an early growth stage; the agency estimated that crop could have yielded about 9,000 kilograms if it had matured.[1][2]
Taken together, SENAD reported more than eleven tonnes of marijuana eliminated in different stages of production.[1][2] HOY added that the load was probably destined for Brazil because of the price cannabis fetches there.[1] La Tribuna said work in the area would continue under prosecutor Jorge Sosa.[2]
