On the morning of Sunday 1 November 2026, officers from the Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood team of West Mercia Police spotted a caravan being towed without a number plate or towing mirrors on the A38 towards Wychbold in Worcestershire.[1][2] Officers stopped the car towing the caravan on the A38 after spotting the missing plate.[1][2] A search of the stopped vehicle found cannabis inside.[1][2] At the scene, police arrested a 55-year-old man on suspicion of drug driving.[1][2]

The case began as a traffic stop because the towed caravan had no number plate, with officers later saying the missing plate was not their only concern.[1] Photographs released by police show the cannabis seized by Droitwich officers on the A38 at Wychbold.[1]

West Mercia Police described drug driving as one of the Fatal Four offences.[1] The force said driving while under the influence can have serious consequences for the person driving and for other innocent road users.[1]
