Police officers in Wormerveer arrested one suspect after discovering a total of
almost ten thousand joints during searches of a house in the town and of a car
they also examined last Monday.[1]The suspect was taken into custody at the
time but has since been released, and police say the investigation into the case
is still ongoing.[1]
The operation began with a report to Meld Misdaad Anoniem, the Dutch anonymous
crime-reporting line, in which the caller suspected that one of the residents of
the Wormerveer house was dealing drugs.[1]Officers who went to the house to
take a look arrived just as the suspect drove away in a car, so they followed
the vehicle and stopped it at a motorway exit.[1]
A search of the stopped car uncovered almost 8,800 ready-rolled joints.[1]Officers then examined the house and found about another 1,000 joints there,
accounting for the reported total of almost ten thousand.[1]Police seized all
of the softdrugs, the ready-rolled joints recovered in the car and the house.[1]
