Police in Breda arrested a 29-year-old man from France on Wednesday afternoon
after stopping a car whose number plate turned out not to belong to that
vehicle.[1][2]Officers checked the vehicle at about 15:30 because they had
noticed the deviating number plate.[1][2]A saliva test taken during the check
showed that the driver was driving under the influence of cannabis.[1][2]The
driver was arrested on suspicion of several criminal offences and will have to
account for them before a court at a later date.[1][2]
During the check, officers discovered that the registration certificate
presented for the car had been forged.[1][2]The driver had the forged
registration certificate with him at the time of the check.[1]He could not
demonstrate that the car he was driving was his.[1][2]Police seized the car
together with its number plates and the forged registration certificate.[1][2]
Police noted that the car came from Switzerland.[1]Police are therefore
investigating whether the vehicle was stolen.[1][2]
