A notorious drug trafficker was apprehended along the Voi-Mombasa Highway with 40 kg of skank, a potent form of cannabis smuggled from southern Africa, in what authorities called a major breakthrough.[1]
Michael Charles Chacha, 47, was arrested travelling in a public service vehicle; the drugs hid in a suitcase that had reportedly passed undetected through the Taveta border point, bound for a drug cartel in Mombasa.[1] Passengers reportedly commended the officers’ swift, discreet action.[1]
Anti-narcotics officers say skank originates in Eswatini and moves through South African ports into Tanzania before reaching Kenya, and that Chacha had long run a Coast-region distribution network under surveillance for months; he was held at Coast Regional Police Headquarters pending arraignment on trafficking charges.[1]
