A Lamu-bound passenger bus was intercepted by anti-narcotics officers at
Sabaki Bridge in Malindi after a significant haul of cannabis was found
hidden in its luggage compartment.[1][2]
The Tawakal Bus Service coach, registration KDN 368W, was travelling from
Nairobi toward the Coast when a multi-agency team flagged it down for
routine inspection.[1][2] Searching the hold, detectives found two bulky
bales of cannabis sativa concealed among bundles of second-hand clothes, a
disguise police believe was meant to pass the narcotics off as ordinary
luggage.[1][2]
The suspected owner of the cargo fled moments before officers could react; a
manhunt began while the impounded bus and bales were secured as evidence.[1]
