A district judge sentenced Jesús “N” to eight years and four months in prison for transporting more than nine kilos of marijuana.[1][2] The Federal Public Ministry proved his criminal responsibility before the judge for a health crime in the form of marijuana transport.[1] The judge also imposed a fine equivalent to 83 Unidades de Medida y Actualización (UMA).[1]

Federal Ministerial Police officers detained him during a review of a bus on the International Mexico 15D highway near Villa Unión, south of Mazatlán, Sinaloa.[1] The action followed an anonymous denunciation warning that a person was travelling on a bus with narcotics on the Mazatlán-Tepic stretch near Villa Unión.[1] Agents located the bus matching the reported characteristics, stopped it and carried out an inspection.[1] During the inspection they seized nine kilos, 349 grams and 600 milligrams of marijuana and handed the drugs and the detainee to the federal prosecutor in Sinaloa for investigation.[1][2]

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) said it keeps channels for citizen denunciations open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.[1] It said denunciations can be made by email, by telephone and in person at its offices in Culiacán.[1]
