Police exposed two men who had allegedly organised the sale of methamphetamine in Uzhhorod.[1][2] Investigators say a 53-year-old Uzhhorod resident supplied methamphetamine while his 46-year-old accomplice from Uzhhorod district distributed the psychotropic substance across the district.[1][2] Both men had previously come to the attention of law enforcement.[1] At the time of detention one of them was on bail in a case over leaving a military unit without authorisation, while a court was already hearing drug-trafficking proceedings against the other.[1] Both men were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.[1]

Police carried out court-authorised searches at the homes of the suspects and their alleged accomplices and in their cars.[1][2] The searches seized methamphetamine, marijuana, tablets resembling ecstasy, packaging materials, about one thousand rounds of ammunition and other physical evidence.[1][2] Investigators notified both suspects of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 307 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code covering illegal production, acquisition, storage or sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances.[1] A court ordered both suspects held in custody with the option of bail.[1]

Police additionally accuse the 46-year-old district resident of organising or maintaining places for illegal drug use under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 317.[1] Officers also opened a separate criminal case over illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.[1]
