Police in Uspensky District, Krasnodar Krai, seized more than 200 grams of wild cannabis from the household of a 34-year-old local man, the regional police said.[1] The man found the cannabis bushes on the edge of Uspenskoye village and picked the drug-containing parts before drying them.[1] He then packaged the material and stored it in an outbuilding for personal use.[1] Officers seized the drug from the household.[1] The seized material was a prohibited substance, the police said.[1]

The police said the man had previously been convicted under Part 2 of Article 228 of the Russian Criminal Code, a drug offence.[2] His case has been sent to court with an approved indictment.[3] He is accused of illegal storage of narcotic drugs.[4] The case concerns possession of wild cannabis, not cultivation.[4] A court will hear the case.[1] The offence carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.[1]
