Police detained a 42-year-old local man in Egorlyksky District, Rostov Oblast, on suspicion of storing narcotic drugs, the Main Directorate of Russia’s Interior Ministry for Rostov Oblast said.[1] Officers found a plant substance in the man’s home during a search.[1] Forensic testing identified it as cannabis and measured its weight at 50.23 grams.[1] Police classified this as a significant quantity.[1] Authorities said the man had kept the cannabis for his personal use.[1]
The regional police press service said a criminal case had been opened against the suspect under Part 1 of Article 228 of the Russian Criminal Code.[1] The quoted provision covers illegal acquisition or possession of narcotic drugs in a significant quantity without intent to sell.[1] The allegation is therefore framed as possession without intent to sell rather than as a reported sale.[1] This links the forensic identification and significant-quantity finding to the cannabis officers found during the search of the man’s home.[1]
