On 27 October 2026, members of Mexico’s National Guard and the Mexican Army, working with Yucatán’s state prosecutor’s office, the Fiscalía General del Estado, searched a property in the municipality of Umán under a technical investigation order.[1] The search was carried out in coordination with the state prosecutor’s office as part of the National Public Security Strategy.[2] Por Esto reported that the official account did not say whether anyone was arrested during the search.[1]
According to the Guardia Nacional’s state coordination, officers seized 2.7 kilograms of green plant material described as similar to marijuana, along with 4.2 kilograms of a substance similar to methamphetamine and 440 grams of white powder similar to cocaine.[1] The property linked to the investigation was also secured.[2] The evidence was placed at the disposal of the federal prosecutor’s office, the Fiscalía General de la República, in Mérida, which is to decide its legal status and continue the investigation.[2]
Military authorities said that, during the current federal administration, forces had seized 138,197 kilograms of methamphetamine, 137,516 kilograms of marijuana and 22,605 kilograms of cocaine.[2] Those administration-wide figures were presented as part of the National Public Security Strategy, not as the result of the Umán search.[2] The agencies said the Umán operation was carried out in line with the rule of law and with respect for human rights.[2]
