Mexico’s federal prosecutor’s office, the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), burned more than 1,813 kg of seized narcotics.[1] The incineration was held at the facilities of the 98th Infantry Battalion in Santa María Huatulco, Oaxaca.[1] In its own post on X, the FGR put the load at more than 1.8 tonnes of narcotics tied to federal investigation files.[2] The burned loads included green cannabis herb as well as cocaine hydrochloride and synthetic methamphetamine.[1]

The drugs had been held in ministerial custody in Oaxaca in connection with several open case files.[1] Inspectors from the internal control body watched each stage of the weighing, counting and chemical testing of the packages sent to the fire.[1] Forensic specialists from the Criminal Investigation Agency and Federal Ministerial Police handled the chain of custody and verified each package before it entered the incinerator.[1] Representatives of different levels of government attended, including delegates of the Oaxaca state administration and officials of the federal security ministry.[1]
