After partly covert inquiries into suspected illegal drug and cannabis dealing, prosecutors in Bonn obtained search warrants for five properties in Troisdorf, Sankt Augustin and Ruppichteroth.[1][2] On the morning of Tuesday 27 October 2026 officers from the Rhein-Sieg criminal police carried them out.[1][2]

In a detached house in Troisdorf-Spich they found three cellar rooms fitted out as a plantation with about 900 cannabis plants still in an early growth stage.[1][2] The utility company was called because of suspected tampering with the electricity supply, and the technical relief organisation helped remove the plants and equipment; drug-detection dogs were used during searches in Sankt Augustin.[1][2]

Police also seized several mobile phones and other possible evidence.[1][2] Three suspects aged 42 to 49 were photographed for identification records and then released.[1][2] Criminal investigation department 3 is examining their roles and how the plantation was run.[1][2]
