Judicial police in the city of Tiznit arrested a man in his thirties on Saturday 31 October 2026 on suspicion of drug trafficking in Arbaa Sahel commune and the surrounding areas.[1] The detainee was already the subject of several national search warrants issued by the Royal Gendarmerie in the Souss-Massa and Guelmim-Oued Noun regions.[1] Officers stopped him in Tiznit and, on searching him, found a significant quantity of chira, the Moroccan term for cannabis resin, which he was suspected of planning to carry to Arbaa Sahel for redistribution to local dealers.[1]

The competent public prosecution ordered him held in police custody while investigators work to uncover the other possible accomplices and the extent of the suspected network.[1] Police describe him as one of the most prominent distributors operating for years along the Tiznit coast, centred on Arbaa Sahel, and report that he has numerous prior convictions.[2]

The custody investigation, supervised by the prosecution, is intended to identify his remaining partners in the long-running supply of drugs to the coastal areas.[2] The seized chira was being carried toward Arbaa Sahel for redistribution to a group of dealers in the area.[2]
