The Goud report describes the target as a dangerous network promoting hashish, the local term for cannabis resin, around Laayoune.[1] Royal Gendarmerie judicial-centre officers in Laayoune, backed by anti-gang units under the direct supervision of the company commander, raided a secret hideout used by the network at Taslba in Boukraa commune, about 40 kilometres from Laayoune.[1] The operation followed precise exploitation of intelligence from the regional intelligence service and modern technical means, which located the hideout and allowed officers to surprise the network.[1]

Officers arrested the gang leader during the raid.[1] Officers seized a four-wheel-drive vehicle and significant quantities of various drugs described as ready for promotion and distribution, without giving a separate cannabis weight.[2] Searches of the hideout found a firearm with ammunition and bladed weapons suspected of use in the network’s criminal activity.[1]

At the same site officers also found and dismantled a secret workshop making rubber boats intended for irregular-migration trips, showing the site combined drug dealing with people-smuggling logistics.[1] The Laayoune regional gendarmerie presents the raid as part of its continuing proactive campaign against organised crime to protect people and property.[2]
