Tilhar police arrested Raju Verma with 672 grams of charas on 31 October 2026.[1] Verma is a kshetra panchayat (BDC) member from Barha Mohabbatpur village.[2] Officers acting on an informer’s tip caught him near the Dhakiya Ragha bridge, with the blockade placed on the Birsinghpur–Khudaganj road.[2] The Hindustan account describes the same spot as near the Garra river bridge.[3] Police said Verma tried to flee on seeing them before he was caught.[2] He was produced in court and then sent to jail.[1]

Police recovered 672 grams of charas, also called sulfa-charas, from his possession.[2] Officers also seized his motorcycle and a mobile phone.[1]

Verma told police he had received the charas from an outsider who came to the village and was to deliver it to an unidentified baba.[1] He said he had met the baba a day earlier at Dadia market and was waiting near the bridge for him when police caught him.[1] Police registered a case against him over the recovery.[3] Officers said they were tracing from whom he had bought the consignment.[2]
