Ashta police arrested Sameer Khan, 38, after searching a house in Islampura, Ashta, in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh.[1] Officers acted on a tip that a man was selling ganja from home.[1] They seized 864 grams of ganja, which was in a clear plastic bag inside a white polythene bag, and weighed it on an electronic scale.[1]

Khan, the son of Salim Khan, is a resident of Islampura, Ashta.[1] Police registered a case against him under sections 8 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, India’s main drug law, and said the investigation was continuing.[1] The operation was led by station house officer Raman Thakur under the supervision of superintendent of police Sonakshi Saxena, additional superintendent of police Prashant Chaubey and sub-divisional police officer Damodar Gupta.[2]

The Sehore police said they were carrying out sustained action against the illegal sale of narcotics in the district.[1] The superintendent’s office said the crackdown on illegal activity would continue.[2]
